How to get around
Regional buses
Republic of Cyprus Intercity buses operate frequently between towns and various holiday resorts. Almost all villages are connected by local buses to nearest towns, although the services may be restricted to only one or two a day.
Urban and suburban buses operate frequently during the day between 5.30am and 7pm. During summer, in certain tourist areas, buses may operate until midnight. It is a good idea to check routes with your hotel.
There are nine direct buses to/from Larnaka (approx €2.00) in summer and one daily bus to Lefkosia (approx. €2.00) at 8am (returning at 3pm). There are more or less hourly (on the hours) buses to Paralimmi and Protaras (approx €0.70). All buses leave from the bus stop between the Square and the Harbour.
Taxis
In the Republic service taxis, shared with other people (4 to 7 seats), operate between the main towns every hour or so. There are also rural taxis that operate in hill resorts and urban taxis in towns.
Private taxis (from the taxi stand close to the Square) vary, with rates from approx €22.00 to Larnaka airport, approx €30.00 to Lefkosia, and approx €65.00 to the Troodos Mountains.
